The congress venue - Hotel Ashok, New Delhi, is one of the biggest and most modern congress venues in India. Set in a prime location of Delhi's Diplomatic Enclave (Chanakya Puri), where most of the Embassies / High Commissions are located, the congress venue is 15 kms from the airport.


Official Language
The official language of the Congress is English.

Currency and currency exchange
The official currency of India is Indian Rupee (INR). At present 1 US $ is about INR 40.00. All major international currencies are accepted in India. Currency can be exchanged at the airport, major hotels and banks. All major international credit cards are accepted in India.

Indian Standard Time (IST)
Indian Standard Time is 5.30 hours ahead of GMT (GMT+5.30 hrs).

The weather in New Delhi in October is pleasant and comfortable. The temperature varies between 20 - 25 degree celcius. The congress venue and hotels are air-conditioned.

Electric Current
In India the electric voltage available is 220 volts AC/50 Hz. Some hotels provide additional 110 volt plug point outlets.

Letter of Invitation
Upon request, the Congress Secretariat will be happy to send a personal letter of invitation to facilitate obtaining grant or VISA for participation in the Congress. However, this does not imply any financial support towards expenses for attending the congress, such as registration, travel and hotel accommodation.

All foreign visitors to India require a VISA before arrival. Please contact the nearest Indian Embassy in your home country for VISA. "VISA on arrival" is not granted in India.

Delhi is well connected to all the major cities of the world by international airlines.
The International Airport at Delhi is known as Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA, Terminal II).
The Domestic Airport (IGIA, Terminal I) has excellent air-connectivity with all the cities in India. Pre-paid taxies are available from the international airport to Hotels.

Shuttle services to & fro will be available for the registered delegates from the official hotels to the congress venue.

Local Transportation
Delhi has a well developed transport system with availability of air-conditioned cars, coaches and
state-of-the-art metro.

October is high tourism season for Delhi. You are requested to book your accommodation as soon as possible.

Entry to the Congress will not be permitted without badges due to security reasons. You are requested to wear your badge during all sessions & functions of the congress.

Whilst every attempt will be made to ensure that all aspects of the conference mentioned in this announcement will be adhered to as scheduled, the 9th ACU reserves the right to make such changes as may be necessary.
